Senior Par Plus Golf League -- Waukesha County Senior Par Plus

Waukesha County Seniors Monday Golf League

2012  GOLF  FEES:  A  SLIGHT  INCREASE
(Taken from Dick Henning's letter to membership)

The county finally gave us the information on golf fees for 2012.  Looks like they are raising their prices (an annual rite, it seems) 50 cents for both 9 hole seniors and 18 holers.  The cart fees will remain at $10 and $16 respectively.

Every season you have three choices on roster placement: (1) I want to be on the same team as last year; (2) I want to be removed from my current team, and I would like placement with ???, and (3) I want to be an Alternate Only Member.  Every year we have some golfers who want to golf with their buddies, but the golfers are shy about asking for a change because they don’t want to disappoint their current team members.  The golfers who want the change usually become Alternate Only Members for a year or completely drop out of the league.  If you wish a change, please let Dick Henning know and he will do his best to make it happen.  We are much too old to worry about hurting feelings.  Everyone will understand.

Dick is trying to reach every member of Senior Par Plus Golf in a timely manner, so he's sending out an “e-mail letter” first.  He will send “snail mail” letters to all members who haven’t given us an e-mail address.

If you receive your letter as an e-mail, please reply to his e-mail.  This simple response, which confirms that you got the e-mail, will eliminate the duplicate work of sending you “snail mail” letters.

If you receive your letter as snail-mail (US Post Office), then it means we don't have a functioning e-mail address for you.  If you do have an e-mail address, please send an e-mail to Dick at henningrichard@hotmail.com and he will add it to his data base and share that information with Ed Matarrese.

Dick is working on finalizing the rosters for the 2012 season, so he is asking everyone to respond to his letter by sending a “Reply” e-mail to him and your Information Form and check to Ed Matarrese as soon as possible.  We can’t finalize the team rosters, the alternate list, or the schedule, until we have your responses.  He will try to honor all requests, but everything is done on a “first here, first served” basis.  Requests without a commitment on the part of the player will not be honored, so send Ed Matarrese your Member Information Form and your check as soon as possible.

This year our sixteen-week Monday Senior Par Plus Golf League includes the start of the season on May 7th and ends on August 27th.  The Tournament will be on September 10th.  Since we can not play on Memorial Day or Labor Day, we will have the Tournament after Labor Day.  We can not schedule sixteen weeks of golf and the Tournament between the beginning of May and the end of August since we can not play on Memorial Day or Labor Day.

No SPPG members should pay green fees or membership fees to the golf course.  Team members of the Senior Par Plus Golf League must pay their green fees and membership fee to Senior Par Plus Golf, when they request a team placement.  Eighteen-hole team members will pay $373.00.  This includes sixteen rounds at $21.75 and the membership fee of $25.00.  Nine-hole team members will pay $249.00.  This includes sixteen rounds at $14.00 and the membership fee of $25.00.  Alternate members will pay the $25.00 membership fee.  The membership fee of $25.00 must be paid when a golfer requests placement on the alternate list.

Everyone should make their check payable to “Senior Par Plus Golf” and mail the check and their completed Member Information Form to: Ed Matarrese, Treasury Functionary, 2330 S. Graylog Lane, New Berlin, WI 53151.

Alternate members of the Senior Par Plus Golf League will pay their green fees when the alternate member plays for a team member.  The alternate member should pay one of the team members at the start of the round ($21.75 for 18 holes or $14.00 for 9 holes).  The team member will forward the payment to the absent team member.

Senior Par Plus Golf does not rent carts for the golfers.  Golfers must pay the cost of the riding cart directly to the golf course.  Riding cart prices remain the same at $16.00 for eighteen holes and $10.00 for nine holes

Although the Tentative Teams List and the Alternate List will change as requests are received, the Tentative 2012 Teams and the Alternate List will be available on the web site: http://www.seniorparplusgolf.com .

The finalized 2012 Team List, Alternate List, and Schedule will be available on the web site before the start of the season.  The lists will also be available at the clubhouse at the beginning of the season.  If you wish Dick to send you a hard copy of the Finalized 2012 Teams, Alternate List, and Schedule, please let him know by snail-mail or by calling 262-533-3020.

If you know of anybody who might be interested in joining our league, please share our phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and snail-mail addresses.  We are always willing to welcome new prospects.  You could also share the web site found at: http://www.seniorparplusgolf.com .

Sincerely,
Your Functionaries,

HOW  OLD  ARE  WE?

Ever wonder how you fit in our league as far as your age?  Below is a pie graph showing the make up of the total population of our group of golfers, both alternates and regulars.

Looks like a pretty well distributed bunch of old timers, eh?  Over 70% of the golfers are 65 to 79.  A golfer joining our league last year now holds the title of SENIOR senior golfer.  He is Bob Nevins and turned 93 in July!  Golly, the odds are that most of us will be long gone at that age.

HANDICAP  INDEXES  AVAILABLE

If you click onto the Handicaps page, you will see a slight addition to our usual Naga-Waukee handicap listings.  On the extreme right hand column is your Handicap Index for 18 holes.  This number can be used when you are playing on a course other than Naga-Waukee and would like to know your handicap for that particular course.  By looking up your Index number on the different course's posted Handicap Sheet, you can readily find your handicap for that course.  Of course if you're just playing nine holes, just divide it in half.

If any SPPG member needs a handicap card to use for entering a tournament or for any other reason, let me know and I will print one up for you.
